A KC-46 Pegasus, assigned to the 32nd Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, 305th Air Mobility Wing, makes contact with a C-17 Globemaster III, assigned to the 7th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, to conduct a low-altitude aerial refueling mission over the Pacific Ocean during Exercise Bamboo Eagle 25-1, Feb. 14, 2025. The mission marks a milestone as the KC-46 was piloted by a Royal Australian Air Force exchange pilot and boom operator, making it the first time the RAAF completes low-altitude aerial refueling at 5,000 feet, demonstrating the mobility forces' ability to innovate and extend combat power in challenging conditions.
