JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- When completing a task in the Air Force there is always a tactic, technique or procedure to assist in finishing the task correctly and efficiently.
A group of Airmen at JB MDL look at these TTP’s and ensure they are up to date or adjust them when needed.
“At TTP we, gather, refine, disseminate, codify and we act as a repository for all combat support planning,” said Capt. Jimmy Griffith, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center TTP flight commander. “We go out into the field, gather lessons learned and information about what is happening down range and vet it and share it across the community.”
Being at the Expeditionary Center, the Air Force’s Center of Excellence for advanced mobility and combat support training and education, this group of Airmen are able to work with multiple AFSC’s, and have ten different career fields in the unit.
“We manage nine publications,” continued Griffith. “They range from active shooter to contingency response TTP’s.”
The biggest publication the unit updates is the Airman Manual, a compilation of war skill TTP’s quick reference guide every Airman receives at basic training.
“We also have the information for the Airman’s Manual on what we call our repository, our sharepoint site,” said Griffith. “The repository holds interactive videos for all Airmen to view and learn from.”
Each TTP is reviewed and fine-tuned every two years to ensure the latest information is available to all Airmen across the Air Force.
One of the many courses the Expeditionary Center hosts is Field Craft Contingency Response, a class that CR Airmen take to be category one qualified.
“Once we get updated TTP’s, it makes our job that much easier,” said Staff Sgt. Corey Hoefs, 421st Combat Training Squadron Field Craft CR instructor. “We have the most up to date information to pass along to our students and the rest of the Contingency Response Groups.”
