Select Airmen from JB MDL participated in a local orientation flight, here, Feb. 16

The 305th Air Mobility Wing sponsored a flight for 22 Airmen from the Joint Base’s many support agencies.

“This is our way to say thank you,” said Col. Clinton Zumbrunnen, 305th Operations Group commander. “We couldn’t do what we do without you.”

The day started in the passenger terminal with a briefing about the day’s flight and the capabilities of the aircraft. They processed through the terminal and headed out to the jet.

The Airmen flew in a C-17 Globemaster III, a cargo, transport aircraft, and were able to sit in the cockpit during in-air refueling training.

“The LOFT program is an opportunity to recognize outstanding performers from agencies that support the 305th AMW,” said Capt. Amanda Tomlin, 305th OG commander’s action group. “It gives them a chance to see the mission they support, executed.”

Whether in a C-17 or a KC-10 Extender, every LOFT flight tries to incorporate the aerial refueling mission.

“I’ve never been able to sit in the cockpit during flight before,” exclaimed Staff Sgt. Jessica Boyanton, 87th ABW command staff. “It was an awesome opportunity to see what happens on the flightline.”
