JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST -- Over 50 different companies with specialties ranging from 3-D printing to drone piloting, participated at the 2017 Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Technology Expo on March 9.
The free expo is hosted annually to provide servicemembers a glimpse into some of the developing technologies that could play a role in the future of their career fields.
“Vendors are here to show the latest in technology, which is changing constantly,” said Mark Flemister, Federal Direct Access owner. “The show is really about bringing technology to the military at no cost to the servicemembers.”
Booths at the expo displayed an array of future tech to over 200 servicemembers throughout the day.
“These new technologies allow servicemembers to look for different, or better, ways of getting a job done,” said 2nd Lt. Michael DeMoss, 87th Communications Squadron operations flight commander. “This expo is an opportunity for different military leaders to come and check out what kind of solutions and technologies are becoming available.”
Throughout the year the expo makes its way to other military installations around the country.
“There is an exponential growth in future technologies, last year’s expo isn’t the same as this year’s” said Felmister. “The technology is faster, it’s smaller, it’s better and the military needs to have it to do their job.”
