JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Airmen from the 305th Air Mobility Wing deployed its first team to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts from Joint Base MDL, Aug. 30, 2017.
The 305th AMW is known for Rapid Global Mobility and can get supplies anywhere in the world in a matter of hours, but sometimes they only need to be delivered a few states away to help when the need arises.
A C-17 Globemaster III left from Joint Base MDL and flew to Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, where the crew picked up aerospace medical personnel and their supplies.
“We picked up an air medical evacuation team, and they are going to go set up a cell at Little Rock (Air Force Base, Arkansas) and they will operate out of there,” said Capt. Bret Eich, 6th Airlift Squadron aircraft commander.
The 305th AMW and other Joint Base MDL units continue to send aid to displaced people in Texas during their state of need.
“It feels great to be able to contribute,” said Eich. “We wish we could do more to help the people of Texas, but it feels good to have some part in it.”
