The U.S Army Support Activity-Fort Dix conducted a change of responsibility ceremony at Sharp Field on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, April 30.

Command Sgt. Maj. Tamara A. Edwards assumed responsibility as the USASA-Fort Dix command sergeant major from Command Sgt. Maj. Randy W. Gillespie.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be afforded the opportunity to serve the service members, civilians and contractors of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst,” said Edwards. “I’m thrilled to be home in the Northeast, and I look forward to spending the next three years as part of the Fort Dix family.”

Both incoming and outgoing senior enlisted leaders shared expressions of gratitude with the Joint Base MDL audience.

“The people, the history and the organizations here are all amazing,” said Gillespie. “This assignment has definitely been one of my favorites, and it has helped me develop as a Soldier, a leader and as a person.”

The command sergeant major is the senior noncommissioned officer in a unit who advises the commander on all issues related to the enlisted ranks.
