Nor'easter to impact New Jersey Published Feb. 8, 2013 By Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Joint Base Community - JB MDL is under a Winter Storm Warning from 3 p.m., today, to 6 a.m., tomorrow. Snow totals will vary depending on the area you live in. However, emergency management officials anticipate coastal flooding, high wind conditions, snow and sleet. Our Emergency Management team encourages the entire joint base community to prepare for the storm by topping off vehicle fuel tanks, securing loose items (due to potentially high winds), charging mobile devices in case of power outages, and checking battery operated radios. Blinding snow, cold temperatures and rain may create icy road conditions and poor visibility. If you have to drive, use extreme caution! Always buckle your seat belt. Brake properly to avoid skidding. If driving on snow or ice, start slowly and brake gently. Begin braking early when approaching an intersection. If the vehicle starts to slide, ease off the gas pedal or brakes. Steer into the direction of the skid until regaining traction, and then straighten the vehicle. For vehicles with antilock brakes, apply steady pressure. JB MDL will monitor weather and road conditions.
