87th AMDS encourages proper hydration Published July 6, 2012 By Rebecca Rhodes 87th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst -- Hot weather has already brought New Jersey's first heat wave of the year. The heat often coincides with the official start of summer, 7:09 p.m. June 20. Tqwhe 87th Medical Group's Health and Wellness Center reminds folks to become mindful of proper hydration with the 101 critical days of summer campaign in full swing. Trying to drop a few pounds? Clean up a diet? Live a healthier lifestyle? Join the "Burst Your Thirst Challenge" and ... · learn to love drinking water, not sugar; · increase health and vitality; · exercise more; · lose weight; · clean up diet; · have more energy. "Burst Your Thirst" is a four-week challenge for individuals to track their water consumption and minutes of daily physical activity. Members will report their personal weekly total in an effort to accumulate points and move up the challenge leaderboard. Registrants will receive a 64-ounce Super Jug, weekly emails containing hydration tips, healthful recipes, summer activity ideas and opportunities to win HAWC prizes. The program is open to all active duty, reserve, guard, retirees, dependents 18 and older and DOD civil service employees. Registration began June 27. Registrants can visit the HAWC (located inside the McGuire Fitness and Sports Center) to receive program materials and super jug.
