NAVAIR Lakehurst hosts mentoring workshop Published Feb. 10, 2012 By Michael Nguyen Total Force Strategy and Management Department JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, Total Force Strategy and Management Department, Career Development Division hosted a panel discussion on mentoring in support of National Mentoring Awareness Month and Thank You Mentor Day on Jan. 26. Marie Pizzella and Michael Nguyen of the TFS&MD organized and facilitated the Mentoring Matters panel discussion. The panel was composed of eight current mentors and protégés in the NAVAIR Mentoring Program. The panel members were Denise Ackerman, Jean Hansell, David Lam, John Martenak, Gerry Mollo, Chris Reymann, Russell Shannon and Janna Ward. Panelists shared their stories and best practices for initiating successful mentor-mentee communication, creating an inspirational mentor relationship and dealing with the challenges involved in the mentoring program. Other topics included the iMentor tool, Mentoring Toolkit and Mentoring Partnership Plan. This panel discussion was an opportunity to learn more about the NAVAIR Mentoring Program and create a network of mentors and protégés. The Career Development Division and staff said they look forward to future training events with the success of this workshop.
