The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst community has seen many things happen within the last year. The Marines finally landed, hundreds of Airmen were sent to compete in the Air Mobility Command's Rodeo, the Army mobilized and demobilized thousands of Soldiers, the Navy made countless advancements with the new electromagnetic aircraft launch system, numerous units and servicemembers worked in relief efforts of Operation TOMODACHI, the Coast Guard continued to clean oil from the gulf and a hurricane blew through New Jersey within a week of an earthquake shaking the northeast.

JB MDL celebrated its second birthday in October, successfully embedded Marine and Navy squadrons from Willow Grove, hosted numerous distinguished visitors and multiple community events such as: the Beast of the East Mud Run, Parade of Wreaths, the Hindenburg remembrance, Battle of Midway ceremony, POW/MIA ceremony, 4th of July celebration, the first joint base change of command, the opening of the Fleet Readiness Center and the new Child Development Center, and broke ground on the new Warfighter and Family Readiness Center.

The final installment of the Air, Land & Sea Times will feature some of the best photos from 2011, telling the joint base story. The front-page photo was voted on by the joint base community through Facebook.

As we end 2011, let us take time to reflect on the great accomplishments of each of our mission partners. Together, JB MDL is America's premier joint warfighting base capable of protecting air, land and sea power at a moment's notice. Thank you for your readership in 2011 and we will see you in 2012.
