Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst welcomes Air Force Hennessy Team

In November 2010, the 87th Force Support Squadron's Halvorsen Dining Facility and Flight Kitchen operations won the Air Mobility Command 2011 Hennessy Trophy.

Beginning Sunday, the Air Force level Hennessy Team will visit Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to evaluate the Halvorsen Hall team's ability to provide world-class meals and outstanding service to the joint base community. They will be competing against seven of the best dining facilities from other major commands and direct reporting units from around the globe.

"I'm excited for the evaluators to get here," said Lt. Col. John Barlett, 87th Force Support Squadron commander. "This food service team has been doing everything they can to exceed the needs of our customers and I know they are the best in the Air Force. I'm looking forward to seeing the expressions on the evaluator's faces when they depart on the 23rd knowing they just found their winners!"

The Hennessy Trophy Awards Program has three essential purposes:

· To promote excellence in customer service and meal quality throughout the Air Force by recognizing outstanding dining facility operations and management.

· To inspire high morale, motivation, mission support and a professional image through pride and spirited competition.

· To improve management concepts and practices.

The John L. Hennessy trophy is an annual award presented to the Air Force installation with the best food service program in the single and multiple facility categories. The award criteria covers the entire scope of the installation food service program to include excellence in management effectiveness, force readiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness.

Achieving success in the Hennessy competition is a reflection of pride, commitment and motivation to be the best. The Halvorsen Hall team is ready to show the evaluators day in and day out, they are the best Food Service Operation in the Air Force.
