Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has been selected by Air Mobility Command to represent the command in the Air Force competition for the 2011 John L. Hennessy Trophy in the single facility category.

The Hennessy Trophy is an annual award presented to Air Force installations with the best food-service programs. Awards are based on the entire scope of an installation's food-service program. Winners must display excellence in management effectiveness, force-readiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness, officials said.

Lt. Col. John Barlett, 87th Force Support Squadron commander, said he is proud of the work being done by the services professionals at the joint base.

"I've always known our food service team is the best ever and I have full confidence they'll bring home the AF trophy as well," said Barlett.

The announcement came from Col. Steven J. Beatty, AMC's Director of Manpower, Personnel and Services, Nov. 23.

"This year's selection process was highly competitive, underscoring the professionalism and dedication of our services professionals, and the outstanding support you provide them," Beatty said in the message.

JB MDL will now compete with other facilities from across the Air Force and the winners will be announced in 2011.
