One year after McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix and Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Station collaborated, the Club 5/6 organization revealed their newly created logo.

"The entire design focuses on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst from the stars, to the base names, including the colors- blue for the Air Force, green for the Army, and gold for the Navy- and even the tri-service branch seals on the back," said Tech. Sgt Merrilee Finney, 21st Air Mobility Operations Squadron and creator of the logo.

Late last year, the organization held a logo contest to reprise the incumbent Club 5/6 logo.

Finney said she was really surprised and pleased that the Club 5/6 committee found her design was the best to represent the organization.

"I kind of went off the original logo and then altered it to represent the current standing of the Club 5/6 and the fact that all three services are now being represented by the club," Finney added.

In addition, the words "Professional," "Dedicated," "Motivated" were incorporated in the design to showcase the organization objectives.

For former president of Club 5/6, Tech Sgt. Laura Stanton, 87th Force Support Squadron, the new logo encourages new attention and new attitude.

"The new logo symbolizes the new face of JB MDL and our 'One Team, One Fight' motto", said Stanton. "We changed the logo because our mission and the way we do business have changed," Stanton added. "Change is good."

"It is an icebreaker for people to become involved," said Staff Sgt. Katrena Anderson, 87th Aerospace Medical Squadron and recently elected Club 5/6 president. "The newly designed logo captures the tri-service community vision we have for our organization."

"Our base leadership worked really hard over the last year to see this Joint Base mission accomplished and we want to support that," she said.

"We want servicemembers to feel welcomed at our meetings, from any branch of service on this installation and the coin/logo is a token of that vision."

Focusing primarily on servicemember of the E-5 and E-6 rank, the club continues to reach out and educate fellow military services about what the organization is about and how all E-5's and E-6's can benefit collectively if come together, according to Anderson.

"It's important to join the Club 5/6 because it helps by providing us with professional development, networking amongst each other, and most importantly, to me, it builds confidence among us knowing we bring something to the table from the E-5/E-6 community," said Anderson.

"We encourage all Staff Sgts. and Tech. Sgts. throughout the base to stop in to at least one of the Club 5/6 meetings and they may be surprised at how much of an impact we really have on JB MDL," Anderson added. "This organization is our voice."

"A new coin with the Club 5/6 logo is currently under review for future purchase," said Stanton.

Club 5/6 meetings are held every third Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the First Term Airmen Center Auditorium.
