Make your vote count with FVAP Published Oct. 22, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Dennis L. Sloan 87th ABW/PA JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Voters who have not registered for the Nov. 2 election or requested a ballot still have time to cast their vote. With the new federal mandate for electronic transmission, voters can complete all steps of the voting process at www.fvap.gov. The Federal Voting Assistance Program allows servicemembers to cast their votes online whether they're overseas or stationed in the United States. The new system of online voting provides servicemembers, their families and oversea civilians the option to complete absentee ballots weeks sooner rather than postal mail delivery. FVAP offers an online automated federal write-in absentee ballot, which guides voters through the process in less than 10 minutes and provides information on all federal candidates. "With the new online voting system offered by the Federal Voting Assistance Program, servicemembers overseas or those away from their home state can cast their ballot quickly and stress free," said Capt. Alfonza E. Howard, 87th Communications Squadron, Cyberspace Operations. Those not comfortable with online voting can use the federal postal card application to register or request an absentee ballot, which will be sent immediately. Several states allow voters to submit their FPCA by e-mail or fax in addition to regular mail. Servicemembers overseas can mail their ballots for free and track them online using the Military Postal Service Agency. The MPSA uses Express Mail to ensure the ballot is shipped as quickly as possible. "The Nov. 2 election is almost here, so please take a few minutes out of your day and go to www.fvap.gov and cast your ballot," said Howard. "Voting is one of the most important things you can do. Your vote has an effect on you as well as your family and community members, so vote today for a positive impact on your community." All JB MDL voters with questions or concerns regarding voting procedures can call 754-VOTE or e-mail vote@McGuire.af.mil.
