In the Red Zone: Week 6 down, 11 to go Published Oct. 22, 2010 By Bryan Swink 87th ABW/PA JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- This season is really starting to confuse me. After just 6 weeks, there are only three teams in the entire NFL that have less than two losses. In recent seasons, there have been multiple teams still undefeated and clear-cut division leaders. There is only one division leader with more than a one-game lead from the second place team. I'm going to stop scratching my head and see if I can make sense of what might happen in Week 7. Cincinnati at Atlanta Atlanta looked flat last week against the Eagles and needs this win to stay on top of the NFC South. Cincinnati is coming off a bye week and should be well-prepared to face the Falcons on the road. Being prepared is one thing, but executing is another. The Bengals are coming off two straight losses to teams farless talented then they. They are about to hit a difficult stretch of games in their schedule and need every win possible to stay in playoff contention. Swink's prediction: Falcons win at home Washington at Chicago Redskin's quarterback Donnovan McNabb was extremely inconsistant last week against a poor Colts defense. He will have his hands full against a stingy Bears defense. Even though Chicago is sitting in first place in the NFC North, they must successfully rebound from a tough loss to Seattle. They need to get running back Matt Forte off to a good start which will open up opportunities to throw the ball down field. Swink's prediction: Bears win at home St. Louis at Tampa Bay St. Louis is a surprising team this season as they have a .500 record going into Week 7. They play a Tampa Bay team that has played well against weak teams and been absolutely crushed against good ones. Expect Rams running back Steven Jackson to have a big game against the Buc's 31st-ranked rushing defense. Establishing the run will give rookie quarterback Sam Bradford time to make smart passes down field. Swink's prediction: Rams win on the road San Francisco at Carolina The 49ers won their first game of the season last week and will continue their success this week against a bad Panthers team. San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree has finally settled in and could have a big game this week. The Panthers have struggled offensively all season and will continue until receiver Steve Smith returns from injury. Swink's prediction: 49ers win on the road Buffalo at Baltimore If I was to put all my money into picking one game this week, it would be this game. The Ravens are a much better team in every aspect of the game. Baltimore running back Ray Rice should have a huge game against the worst-ranked run defense in the league. Unfortunately, the Bills will not get their first win of the season this week. Swink's prediction: Ravens win at home Philadelphia at Tennessee This game will be a fun one to watch. Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns in the win against the Falcons last week. His momentum may be halted this week against an extremely tough Titans defense. Can the Eagles defense contain running back Chris Johnson? I don't think so. The Eagles haven't been tested against someone of Johnson's stature thus far in the season. I don't think they are talented enough to stop him. Swink's prediction: Titans win at home Jacksonville at Kansas City This game will be a battle of who can run the ball more efficiently. Both teams are ranked in the top six in rushing and the bottom seven in passing. Kansas City has the edge in defense allowing only 90 yards per game on the ground. Chief's receiver Dwayne Bowe finally had a big game last week and looks to continue to be Matt Cassel's go-to guy. When these two are on the same page, they will be extremely tough to stop. Swink's prediction: Chiefs win at home Pittsburgh at Miami Miami has disappointed me recently even though they had an impressive overtime win last week in Green Bay. I don't think they have the talent or ability to defeat a Steelers team who has all the momentum in the world. The Dolphins have yet to win at home and have allowed an average of 36 points in those games. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has knocked the rust and is ready to make a title run. Swink's prediction: Steelers win on the road Cleveland at New Orleans Drew Brees and the defending Super Bowl Champion Saints finally got their act together last week and dominated their opponents. If they play like they did against the Bucs, this game will be over by the beginning of the second quarter. Cleveland doesn't have the offense or defense to make this game competitive. Brown's quarterback Colt McCoy showed promise last week, but is still developing. Swink's prediction: Saints win at home Arizona at Seattle Even though both of these teams hold a record of 3-2, they are both extremely inconsistent. They each have flashes of great performances and then look confused and incapable of making a play. The winner of the game takes sole possession of first place in the weak NFC West. Both teams better learn a lot about their opponent this week because they have a rematch in three weeks. Swink's prediction: Seattle wins at home New England at San Diego What in the world is wrong with San Diego? I would say they are the largest letdown of the season, but Dallas is currently holding that title. They will need to turn things around quickly if they want any shot to make the playoffs. Unfortunately this week will not be a cakewalk. The Patriots are 4-1 and coming off an impressive come-from-behind victory in overtime against the Ravens. Swink's prediction: New England wins on the road Oakland at Denver Both of these teams are coming off disappointing losses and hope to cement themselves as a contender within the AFC West. This has the potential to be a good game if Raiders running back Darren McFadden is healthy. Without him last week, the Raiders looked confused and couldn't establish consistency in their play. Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton could have a big day exploiting the Raiders secondary. Swink's prediction: Raiders win on the Road Minnesota at Green Bay With the injuries facing the Packers, it is hard to pick them to win this week against the Vikings. They aren't just missing one or two key players; multiple players on both sides of the ball are either nursing injuries or out for the season. Brett Favre returns for the second time to Lambeau Field to face his former team. Even though their record is only 2-3, the Vikings are coming off a big win against Dallas last week, which I believe was the turnaround for their season. Swink's prediction: Vikings win on the road NY Giants at Dallas The Cowboys aren't quite out of the playoffs yet, but they are quickly on their way. Even though their record is 1-4, no team in the league can underestimate them. If the Giants think they are going to walk into Dallas and march all over them, they have another thing coming. They have not lost to a team this season by more than a touchdown. Every game has been decided within the last three minutes. This will be a good NFC East matchup.
