87th Medical Group After Hours Clinic to discontinue services

The 87th Medical Group After Hours Clinic will officially close Sept. 28.

The medical group has worked closely with the Tricare contractor and local medical partners to ensure the joint base military community has access to urgent after-hours medical care.

The closest civilian after-hours/urgent care center to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is the After Hours Family Practice of Lourdes at Deborah Hospital, located in Browns Mills, N.J. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and holidays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This transfer of services to the Deborah Hospital allows for servicemembers and their families to receive more extensive treatment that wouldn't be available on base. The operating hours will also provide improved flexibility when scheduling appointments.
As always, patients should proceed immediately (no referral needed) to the nearest emergency room for life-, limb- or eyesight-threatening conditions.

For Tricare prime beneficiaries enrolled at the 87th Medical Group, preauthorization are not required to go to the After Hours Clinic at Deborah. For active duty and their family members enrolled in Tricare prime, there will be no co-payment for the clinic's services.
For prime-enrolled retirees and their family members, a $12 co-payment will apply.

"My commitment to you is to provide exceptional care for you and your family within your medical facility and ensure your needs are met, no matter the time of day or night," said Col. James Burks, 87th Medical Group commander. "Our goal is to ensure patients will be cared for by their family health team whenever they visit the medical group for primary care."

The new Air Force Family Health Initiative is an active, patient-centered approach to establishing a "medical home" for each individual enrolled to the medical group.
