Air Force Week NYC set for Aug. 24-29

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- From Aug. 24 through Aug. 29, the streets of New York City will be buzzing with the excitement of Air Force Week. Air Force Bands, performance teams such as Tops in Blue, and other artists will take part in the festivities, as well as New York born senior leaders and Airmen from throughout the Air Force. In addition, the Thunderbirds will be performing in an Air Force Week related event on Wednesday, August 25th at the Atlantic City Air Show. Information about the schedule of events for Air Force Week NYC is below.

August 24
Proclamation Ceremony, 10:30 a.m. at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum - FREE
Open USAF displays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pier 86 of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum - FREE
Queens Proclamation Ceremony, 1 p.m., Kew Gardens - FREE

August 25
Air Force Volunteer Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grand Army Plaza of Prospect Park, Brooklyn - FREE
Open USAF displays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pier 86 of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum - FREE
Air Force Salute to Heroes, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Peters Veterans Affairs Hospital, The Bronx - Airmen will greet and interact with VA patients and staff
The Air Force rock band, Maximum Impact, performs a free concert, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. South Street Seaport Manhattan - FREE
Air Force Night with the Brooklyn Cyclones, 7 p.m. Municipal Credit Union Park, Coney Island

August 26
Open USAF displays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pier 86of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum - FREE
Open USAF displays and band performances, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Military Island, Times Square - FREE
Air Force Volunteer Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Memorial Grove of Van Cortlandt Park, the Bronx - FREE
The Air Force Band, Airmen of Note, performs at Kingsborough Community College Band Shell, 7 p.m. Brooklyn - FREE
AIR Force Night with the New York Mets, 7:10 p.m. Citi Field, Flushing

August 27
Movie Night on the Intrepid, "Iron Man" will be the feature presentation, doors open at 7:30 p.m. the movie begins at sundown - FREE
Air Force Night with the Staten Island Yankees, 7 p.m. Richmond County Bank Ballpark, Staten Island

August 28
Tops in Blue performs, 7:30 p.m. Fort Hamilton Base Theater, Brooklyn - FREE
Air Force Night with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, 6:30 p.m. The Coney Island Illuscination, Coney Island
