Dialing 911 when a person's life, health or property is at risk is the quickest way of reaching emergency medical, police or fire responders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For an emergency that requires police only, callers should call Joint Base Police directly at (609) 562-6001/6004 for McGuire or Dix, and (732) 323-4000 for Lakehurst. Dialing Joint Base Police directly will reduce any delay in response.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has two Public Safety Answering Points and Public Safety Dispatch Points where 911 calls are received and processed. The Lakehurst PSAP/PSDP covers Lakehurst only.

When a 911 is received at the PSAP, it must be answered within 15 seconds and the appropriate response must be provided within 60 seconds. The dispatcher must determine precise information to better serve the needs of any caller. Location is the most significant piece of information to avoid non-response due to lost, dropped or abandoned calls. If emergency responders are provided with a location, a suitable response can be provided. Your location will be displayed on the dispatcher's computer screen. It is important that you accurately answer all questions asked by the dispatcher. Specific questions must be asked to expedite response or to provide the caller with medical instructions until help arrives.

When calling 911 from your cell phone, your call is automatically routed to the nearest PSAP serving your area. Your exact location may not be displayed on the dispatcher's screen, therefore it is imperative that you provide an accurate location. Lakehurst calls placed from a cell phone will be routed and processed through Ocean County or transferred to the Lakehurst PSAP.
