Lakehurst Thanksgiving food program exceeds goals Published Dec. 2, 2009 By Pattie Odoardo Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Public Affairs JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J -- The 2009 Thanksgiving Food Basket program on Lakehurst was successful due to the generosity of the members of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst family. Almost 200 baskets were purchased with the money raised. These were distributed to military, veteran and civilian families in the region as a result of the initiative. The program was successful not only because of the generosity of the JB MDL Lakehurst division but also because of the volunteers who gave their time. Lakehurst volunteers planned the operation, collected donations at the installation gates, put the baskets together and distributed them. Specific organizations that played special roles in this year's program were the First Class Petty Officers' Association, the Second Class Petty Officers' Association and the Cathedral of the Air congregations.
