Fort Dix's 'Post' to publish joint base news temporarily Published Aug. 21, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Danielle Johnson Joint Base Public Affairs JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Beginning this week, the Fort Dix base newspaper, The Post, will publish joint base news for the installation until a Joint Base MDL internal information program is fully developed to meet the needs of the installation. This interim solution was put in place following the final publication of the Warrior Spirit last week in preparation for the installation's requirement to reach full operational capability Oct. 1. "As the McGuire Air Force Base newspaper, the Warrior Spirit served the Airmen of Team McGuire," said Angel Lopez, 87th Air Base Wing chief of public affairs. "Since we are now Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, we need a newspaper that reflects the unity of the first tri-service joint base. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen work side-by-side on this installation, and we need our publications to reflect that." The Post will remain mostly unchanged in appearance, with only minor changes made to the flag to state its expanded mission to inform personnel at all three sections of the joint installation. Joint Base news and announcements are still available 24/7 on the Web site www.mcguire.af.mil. The Post is published by the Fort Dix Public Affairs Office. "We're working closely with joint base leadership and our public affairs counterparts at Fort Dix and Lakehurst to develop a comprehensive and effective internal information program," said Ms. Lopez. "This may include a joint base newspaper, but also may include new media such as social networking sites and other non-traditional communication methods in addition to the programs we already have in place." "We are dedicated to the men and women of this joint base," she continued. "There are some changes - and challenges - ahead for us all as we continue our joint basing efforts, but that priority will remain the same."
