The 305th Services Squadron's Human Resources section was recently named best in Air Mobility Command for 2008. The team will now move on to compete at the Air Force level.

With such a busy year, many accomplishments went into the team's award.

"We took a fresh look at how we recruit and retain employees, teaming with Burlington County Human Services and Goodwill industries to provide placement opportunities for the disadvantaged," said Connie O'Dell, 305th SVS human resources officer. "We also provided MYMONEY access for NAF personnel via www.305services.com and reorganized the squadron's payroll service."

Other than special projects, normal day-to-day operations within the section were also recognized.

"We processed more than 1100 actions in the Modern Defense Civilian Personnel Data System with 99.5 percent accuracy, which is not an easy task, realized a 40-percent decrease in workman compensation claims due to reemphasizing safety through training, and enjoyed a 'zero' interruption during 2008's NAF-T conversion to a new web-based payroll system.," Ms. O'Dell said. "It was indeed a busy year for the 305th SVS HR office."

Ms. O'Dell said it was nice to receive recognition for hard work, and good teamwork made the award a reality.

"It feels good to know the efforts of your team are recognized. It sounds cliché, but teamwork is key to getting things done (and winning this award). We have a very small, professional team doing enormous things made even bigger because of Joint Basing," she said.

The 305th SVS HR team's leadership praises their efforts and believes they will take this award to the next level.

"Lt. Col. John Clark, 305th SVS commander, and I are both very proud of the HR team. They overcame a tremendous amount of obstacles last year and still provided outstanding service to our community," said John Cullinane, 305th SVS deputy director.

"The key to them winning this award was their desire to excel and ability to come up with innovative solutions to problems," he said. "Connie is an outstanding leader and her co-workers define the word team. They are the best HR office I've seen in my 28 years, and I believe they will win the Air Force-level award."
