Left, Col. Balan Ayyar, 305th Air Mobility Wing commander, presents a Can Do Crew award to Staff Sgt. Rito Prieto, with the 305th Aeromedical Squadron assigned to the 2nd Air Refueling Squadron. “Sergeant Prieto is one of those ‘Can Do’ Team McGuire members behind the scenes. He is our wing's first non-Security Forces Combat Skills instructor. He volunteered more than 850 hours conducting training for deploying Airmen, ensuring basic contingency skills for weapon handling and self-defense. He is the first IDMT in the Air Force to be certified by the USA in the Modern Army Combatives Program as an instructor, and he's implemented Air Mobility Command's first Tactical First Aid/Advanced Combat Buddy Care Training Plan, incorporating both classroom instruction and comprehensive evaluations at the USA's Combat Life Saver Litter Obstacle Course. He has seen more than 300 patients in the clinic in the last two years; the requirements for maintaining his skills are 48 patients per year. He is always the first to volunteer to staff other areas and has been a team player with Deployment Medicine and Immunizations when coverage was needed. Sergeant Prieto also taught triage control for Team McGuire's 2008 Air Show for medical, Cub Scouts and ROTC members. He is well known as the one to go to; he was handpicked to provide austere field medical coverage at Sea Grit in support of joint Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape and Coast Guard operations. His dedication to other Airmen is shown in his willingness to initiate a voluntary comprehensive PT program for interested Air Force personnel with a class now up to 14 members with no PT test failures. Be aware that the "Can Do Crew" is everywhere, looking for outstanding service. They covertly seek members of Team McGuire who make a difference, identifying and recognizing only the best! Remember, the strongest asset of Team McGuire is its people; you are what makes McGuire a better place to live, work and play!
