The 305th Services Squadron Fitness Center recently received the Air Force Fitness 5-Star Recognition Program award at an Athletic Business Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

"This award recognizes fitness centers throughout the Air Force that meet checklist requirements in operations, programs, training, facilities and customer service," said Love Vinci, 305th SVS fitness and sports specialist. "Our fitness center scored high in all five categories to meet the Air Force 5-Star requirements."

The fitness center staff prepared early to make sure they were in the running for the award. Several requirements needed to be met.

"We worked diligently to make sure all of the requirements were met," said 1st Lt. Travis Lytton, 305th SVS Combat Support Flight commander, who accepted the award on behalf of the fitness center. "Some of the criteria included things like offering a certain number of intramural sports to having a pool within a 15-mile radius. Basically, our facility has to offer the opportunity for fitness enthusiasts to participate in unlimited activities (cardio classes, weights, self-directed/intramural sports, swimming, etc.) and offer assistance to beginners who are looking to become enthusiasts."

Members from the fitness center team seem to be very proud of the prestigious recognition.

"Our facility is a premier facility," Ms. Vinci said. "To be recognized for our accomplishments is a boost to the 305th SVS warriors who host these programs, maintain our facility, provide great customer service, ensure operations and train to be the best!"

"This is a prestigious award for Air Force fitness centers worldwide and an impressive feat to meet the guidelines," Lieutenant Lytton said. "Our team feels a great sense of accomplishment to be among the top fitness centers in the Air Force."
