The 305th Communications Squadron will open the doors to its new building with a ribbon cutting ceremony Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. The new building is located at 1901 East Third Street.

The newly-built facility has been under construction for five years. Members from the 305th CS seem very excited about moving into their new workplace location.

"I truly believe the acquisition of this new facility will have an overwhelmingly positive impact on every single member of our squadron, and that it will replicate exponentially into the great work we do day-in and day-out to serve the 'Can Do' wing, our tenant units, joint partners and our nation," said Capt. Alfonza Howard, 305th CS plans and resources flight commander. "... I think this is long overdue to our men and women here ... and of course, we are wholeheartedly thankful for this facility."

The current 305th CS building is considerably aged and has not had renovations in more than 20 years.

"I think moving into the new building will be great; we're moving into better working conditions, which will definitely boost morale and increase productivity," said Tech. Sgt. Shanell Hayes, 305th CS plans and implementation project manager. "Our current building is a very old converted dorm that hasn't been updated since the 1950s."

The 305th CS members who have had a sneak-peek of the new facility's layout seem to have nothing but good things to say about it.

"The design plan by our fellow 305th Civil Engineer Squadron members is amazing; the layout upon entering, and throughout, beams with excellence. We will be able to relocate some of our team separate from us, such as our operators and LMR technicians. Also, we are better collocated with some key equipment and systems we utilize daily to service the base populace to be able to 'put out fires' more efficiently," Captain Howard said.

"We are all looking forward to the ribbon cutting and celebrating with our fellow team members," the captain said. Our welcome mat is open to all."

The members of the 305th Communications Squadron provide high-speed data connectivity, phone and radio networks, multimedia services, maintenance for command and control communications, and air traffic control facilities to support Team McGuire operations.
