After a successful first round, with a total loss of 300 pounds and an increase in healthy-eating habits and exercise sessions, the Health and Wellness Center is doing it again.

Registration is currently underway for Biggest Loser II: Healthy Holiday Challenge at the HAWC. Registration will continue through Nov. 8, when the competition begins.

"The first round of Biggest Loser went very well, and we received a lot of feedback from previous participants asking for another installment," said Megan Smith, HAWC health education program manager. "We decided to hold the second round over the holiday season in order to help keep off those unwanted holiday pounds and keep participants motivated through the holidays and colder weather."

Biggest Loser participants will form teams and go through several group and individual challenges. Each activity is geared toward living a healthy lifestyle - including sleeping habits, eating habits and exercise activities.

"Biggest Loser is not just about losing weight," Ms. Smith said. "It's about keeping up with wellness education, learning new techniques for stress management and staying motivated with wellness goals."

Previous participants have reported more energy, more self esteem, an increased ability to handle and cope with stressful situations, and many other benefits, Ms. Smith said.

"I believe everyone can learn something from this program, like fitness and nutrition habits, even if you don't have any weight to lose," she said. "Wellness is a lifelong practice, and we all need a little refresher from time to time."

Biggest Loser II is open to everyone over the age of 18, including retirees, civilian employees, active duty from all services and spouses. Participants from the first Biggest Loser are also welcome to participate.

To sign up for the Biggest Loser II, download a registration form from www.mcguire.af.mil. Take your form to the HAWC or fax it to (609) 754-4098.
