CFC kicks off Oct. 10 Published Oct. 1, 2008 By Senior Airman Danielle Johnson 305th Air Mobility Wing public affairs MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- Base officials are set to kick of this year's Combined Federal Campaign in a ceremony set for Oct. 10 and will continue the campaign through Nov. 21. The CFC is the world's largest annual workplace charity campaign, said Capt. Christopher Percy, 305th Air Mobility Wing CFC representative. Each year, millions of dollars are contributed by federal civilian, postal and military personnel to support eligible non-profit organizations and provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. "Our goal for this year's campaign is of course 100 percent contact," said Captain Percy. "We want to afford everyone on the base the opportunity to contribute to their favorite charities and many worthwhile causes." He added that base officials also hope to raise more contributions this year than last year's campaign, and urges all to visit the official CFC Web site www.opm.gov./CFC or contact a CFC representative for information on the campaign and eligible non-profit organizations. Information included on the Web site and in CFC brochures includes each organization's mission and the percentage of each donation that will be used for the organization's operating costs. Contributors can make one-time donations or elect for monthly allotments to be deducted directly from their pay. They can also choose to contribute specific dollar amounts to one or more selected organizations or simply make a generic contribution. "Giving through the Combined Federal Campaign allows me to direct my contributions to those charitable organizations that I support with the ability to review how much of the contribution actually goes to the charity versus the company's purported expenses," said Detective Thomas Glapion, 305th Security Forces Squadron.
