In their first joint Letter to Airmen, the acting secretary of the Air Force and the Air Force chief of staff focus on the Air Force mission to fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace.

"The mission statement reflects our rich heritage and continuing commitment to provide decisive air and space power on behalf of national leaders and the joint team," said Air Force Acting Secretary Michael W. Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton A. Schwartz.

The Air Force's top leaders said that Airmen need to understand the broad priorities for tomorrow's Air Force; such as reinvigorating the Air Force nuclear enterprise and modernizing the aging air and space inventories. Other priorities include taking care of Airmen and their families, and acquisition excellence.
