The 305th Civil Engineer Squadron began demolition of McGuire's Wacky World Playground, next to the Arnold Gate, Sept. 16.

Due to high maintenance and condition of the equipment, McGuire plans to replace Wacky World with a new and improved system that is more durable and up to date, said Maj. Karen Cosgrove, 305th CES.

"Once we complete the demolition of Wacky World, we plan to clean the entire area, get rid of the gravel and give the builders a blank slate to work with," said Michael Mattay, 305th CES heavy equipment operator. "It's all about safety - the new development will be a child-friendly modern playground with equipment that is used in playgrounds across the country - from base housing to recreational parks."

"McGuire is sad to say farewell to Wacky World Playground," Major Cosgrove said. "But, look forward to seeing a safe and environmentally-friendly playground in the near future!"
