Early preparation key for NORI Published July 2, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Rebekah Phy 305th Air Mobility Wing public affairs McGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- Base personnel are urged to prepare for the upcoming Nuclear Operational Readiness Inspection in 2009. The NORI, held prior to the ORI, will evaluate the wing on its ability to support U.S. Strategic Command and its global mission. The wing will generate a required amount of aircraft and aircrews to alert status and demonstrate its ability to support and sustain their operations. "The Nuclear ORI will truly be a wing and installation effort," said Lt. Col. Rich Bungarden, 305th Air Mobility Wing plans and programs chief. "While aircrews, maintenance, security forces and command post personnel seem to get the majority of attention during these types of inspections, all base agencies play a role." The colonel said several exercises are planned for the upcoming months to prepare for the NORI. "All personnel need to understand how their section supports the nuclear mission, review checklists and applicable Air Force Instructions, and seek out opportunities to participate in exercises." Wing leadership seems confident the 305 AMW and Team McGuire personnel will be nothing short of outstanding. "This mission begins with our commitment to excellence. We intend to be counted on by our leadership to deliver precise effects in the most demanding environments -- we train to that standard," said Col. Balan Ayyar, 305th Air Mobility Wing commander. "We look forward to demonstrating our capabilities supporting this important national mission. The 'Can Do' wing has a history of delivering on the biggest challenges our nation faces and this mission is no exception."
