305th Services Squadron programs named best in AMC Published June 4, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Rebekah Phy 305th Air Mobility Wing public affairs McGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- The 305th Services Squadron Marketing Program and Youth Program here were recently named best in Air Mobility Command for 2007. Competing against 11 other AMC bases, both departments stood out for outstanding work in several events and projects here. The 305 SVS marketing department led the command in sponsorship acquisition, planned and coordinated six events in six weeks simultaneously with the 2007 McGuire Air Expo, and was innovative in creating, developing and continually producing "Services TV with Big Phil"; the only weekly webcast in AMC, appearing online at www.305services.com. The site surpassed all other AMC base Web sites in web hits, with approximately four million in 2007. The site was also recognized as the most up-to-date and informative services site in the command. The 305 SVS marketing department also took the initiative, as one of the first bases, to create a counter measure of printing services after the base's loss of graphics production. After a very busy and productive year, Monty Dunn, 305 SVS marketing director, was extremely excited and proud of the team's efforts being recognized. "It's a great feeling to know efforts are recognized and appreciated; however, knowing that our efforts have an impact on the quality of life for Team McGuire members (and the Armed Forces) surpasses the recognition," Mr. Dunn said. "We are a very tight-knit, close-working group of four, and we are all so proud to be a part of the Team McGuire family." The 305 SVS Youth Programs department also endured a very productive year, making McGuire the first base to introduce "Fit Factor" sports camp, a low-cost specialty camp to get kids fit and active in the summertime. The low-cost Fit Factor Camps were developed to enable military families to enroll multiple children in multiple camps. The camps offered by the Youth Programs included, field sports like soccer, basketball, and track and field. The 305 SVS Youth Programs also teamed up with Rancocas Valley to enter a team in the international little league baseball world series. The Youth Programs also spearheaded the base's first youth joint base race in September. Several media events were also coordinated through the Youth Programs here; two school-aged children and their parents were featured on Sesame Street and the "Let's Have a Dance Party USA" was hosted here for 150 children of deployed military members. Erica Mitchell, 305 SVS Youth Programs director, is very proud of the Youth Programs staff's accomplishments and is honored to be a part of the team. "It's a phenomenal experience to be a part of the Youth Programs team," Ms. Mitchell said. "It was all definitely a group effort; it makes me so proud of the Youth Programs staff and their commitment to excellence. It is a true honor to serve with this team."
