Local Airmen garner AFSA awards Published May 19, 2008 MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- Tech. Sgt. Tammy Roth from the 305th Aeromedical Squadron was recognized recently as the Air Force Sergeants Association, Division 2, NCO of the Year for 2007. Sergeant Roth was among four NCO nominees from AFSA Division 2, which consists of member chapters representing the Air Force enlisted corps from the region of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Division 2 honored this year's nominees at its annual honors banquet held at Dover, Del., April 26. The winners of the Division award will be invited to San Antonio, Texas, in August to compete for the AFSA International awards at the organization's convention. Also represented at the Division 2 Awards was Senior Airman Zachary Palafox from the USAF Mobility Operations School, Fort Dix. Airman Palafox was among a field of five nominees from around Division 2. Tech. Sgt. Sean Flower, 305th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, was awarded the AFSA Division 2 Recruiter of the Year. Additionally, McGuire's local chapter, Chapter 211, The Garden State Chapter, was recognized as Chapter of the Year and Recruiting Chapter of the Year. AFSA Auxiliary Chapter A211 garnered the Auxiliary Chapter of the Year Award. Geraldine "Gerry" Jones, Auxiliary Chapter A211 president, was presented with a Presidential Award for her outstanding support. The Air Force Sergeants Association is a non-profit organization representing the professional and personal interests of 130,000 active-duty and retired enlisted members of the USAF, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. Membership is open to all current and former military personnel. Additionally, AFSA Auxiliary welcomes military or retiree dependents as its members. In addition to AFSA's national agenda of championing enlisted issues to congress, AFSA local chapters support local programs and events to enhance the community.
