Military Spouse Appreciation Day will be celebrated May 9, 2 to 4:30 p.m., at the Airman and Family Readiness Center here.

"Although military spouses are the key to mission readiness everyday of the year, the month of May is designated for military appreciation throughout all branches of the service worldwide," said Cynthia Bush, AFRC community readiness technician.

"During this unprecedented time of change due to increased deployments, relocation and the overwhelming impact of economic stress, now more than ever, military spouses are 'stepping up' in amazing situations to protect, nurture and manage their families," Ms. Bush said. "The military way of life would not be possible without the sacrifices and support military spouses provide to our community."

An open house will be held at the AFRC with treats, pampering (including chair massages) and special give-aways.

"We encourage all spouses to join us at the open house," Ms. Bush said. "This is one way for us to recognize and appreciate military spouses for all they do!"
