McGuire AFAF campaign kicks off Published March 26, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Rebekah Phy 305th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs McGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- The Air Force Assistance Fund, Commitment to Caring, recently kicked off here. The campaign will continue through April 28. The AFAF campaign benefits four charities: the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Village Foundation, the General and Mrs. Curtis LeMay Foundation and the Air Force Enlisted Village. "Our goal this year is 100 percent contact," said Capt. Jessica Williams, McGuire's lead AFAF campaign representative. "We want to ensure those who wish to give are provided the opportunity to share their generosity with our Air Force family." Captain Williams said this is the only fundraiser that directly benefits Air Force personnel. "The AFAF campaign is a very worthwhile program that helps a lot of people," she said. "It is purely Air Force people making donations to help other Air Force people in need. "One of the charities, the Air Force Aid Society, provides worldwide emergency assistance, sponsors education assistance programs, and offers a variety of base community enhancement programs to help improve the quality of life for Airmen and their families," she said. "The AFAS provided more than $217,000 for loans, grants and educational benefits to McGuire personnel in 2007. This is just one example of the many great things accomplished with the contributions made to the AFAF campaign." For more information or to donate, contact your unit AFAF campaign representative.
