An Open House will be held at the Family Place Dec 12, 1 to 5 p.m., in recognition of Wingman Day, a day that supports the "wingman" concept and encourages all to look out for fellow Airmen, families and communities.

The Open House will feature information on the many programs to be held there, as well as offer an opportunity to meet staff from participating base agencies and sign up for classes. Hot cocoa, cider and holiday cookies will also be offered.

The Family Place, located in the Falcon Courts North housing area, is the location of several family-oriented programs hosted by the Family Advocacy Program and other base agencies. Current program offerings include parenting classes, playgroups, postpartum depression support group and Daddy Boot Camp.

Phoenix Spouses and Family Home Day Care providers also currently hold their meetings at the Family Place.

The purpose of the Family Place is to bring support services into the community, directly to families. The 305th Air Mobility Wing leadership recognizes the importance of supporting families and wanted to make services more accessible to families by providing these services within walking distance in a home-like atmosphere.

The Family Place is located at 3924H Spaatz Drive, which is the first road on the left after entering the housing area. It will only be open when there is a scheduled program.

For more information on the Family Place and its related programs, call Melodye Giovanni, Family Advocacy Outreach manager, at (609) 754-9677.

The Family Place location is provided by United Communities, in partnership with the 305 AMW and Integrated Delivery System agencies. Support for this initiative is also provided by the 305th Medical Group and McGuire Base Exchange.

Integrated Delivery System agencies include Family Advocacy, Mental Health, Drug Demand Reduction Program, Health and Wellness Center, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Chapel, Family Member's Programs Flight and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program.
