Activity is increasing throughout the 305th Air Mobility Wing, the 514th Air Mobility Wing and the 621st Contingency Response Wing in preparation for the arrival of Air Mobility Command inspectors who will visit McGuire Air Force Base Nov. 13-21.

The AMC Inspector General team uses an extensive validation process to ensure objectivity and consistency to measure the wing's mission readiness, ability to support wartime requirements and respond to crisis situations.

With the Unit Compliance Inspection rapidly approaching, Team McGuire's senior leaders are encouraging members to take a hard look at their operations, focusing on any improvement areas that have been identified through preparation efforts in order to make appropriate changes where necessary.

"Individual programs for squadrons and units here have been and will continue to be tested on mission readiness via wing exercises and assistance visits to help them improve in specific areas of identified strengths and weaknesses," said Lt. Col. Edward Wold, 305th AMW Inspector General.

"Basically, Team McGuire is conducting a large exercise on the installation to include weapons of mass destruction, anti-terrorism and emergency response," said Lt. Col. Rich Bungarden, 305th AMW exercise plans chief. "The exercises are geared toward preparing the base to handle any situation, and shine during the inspection."

"We're partners in this inspection," said Lt. Col. Robert Kownacky, 514th Logistics Readiness Flight commander. "Our ability to respond effectively to a crisis and to lend expertise and manpower will be looked at too. Our people are required to train to the same level of readiness as our active-duty brethren, and we do."

"The 621st CRW is excited about the arrival of the AMC LSEP team, our troops have been working very hard to hone their skills and show the inspectors how good they are," said Col. Steve Bernard, .621st CRW commander. "While the 621st isn't participating in the UCI, we have been preparing our work sections as if we were getting the inspection so that no matter where the inspectors check, they will only find 'squared away' programs at Team McGuire."

According to Colonel Wold, when the AMC inspection team arrives in mid-November, they'll spend more than a week here to answer three basic questions:
· How well do we do our primary jobs?
· How well can we respond to a crisis?
· Are we proud of who we are and what we do?

"The inspectors will focus on compliance with Air Force Instructions, the ability to respond to various contingencies and rating the overall appearance of the base, its people and its workspaces," said Colonel Wold.

Frequently asked questions regarding inspection focus can be found on the AMC IG's Web pages accessible from the Air Force Portal website. "Team McGuire personnel are encouraged to access the Web site to gain greater insight into the inspection process," said Colonel Wold. He also encouraged people to review previous inspection results and learn from the after action reports of those who have recently experienced an inspection.
