305 AMW UCI fast approaching Published Oct. 17, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Rebekah Phy 305th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs MCGUIRE AFB, N.J. -- The 305th Air Mobility Wing is currently preparing for its upcoming Unit Compliance Inspection in November. A UCI validates a unit's compliance with regulatory guidance and is conducted by higher headquarters' inspector generals. For the 305 AMW, the Air Mobility Command IG will conduct the inspection. "Units should be preparing (for the UCI) by conducting self assessments of their programs and processes within their unit," said Lt. Col. Rich Bungarden, 305 AMW Plans and Programs chief. "If able, they should be asking outside agencies, such as the 514 AMW (also participating in a UCI during the same time), 621st Contingency Response Wing, 108th Air Refueling Wing and other bases, to validate their self assessments." The colonel also said units should be preparing for exercises as well. "Sometime while the inspection is going on, the IG will ask us to conduct an Emergency Management Exercise," he said. "All facilities need to practice their shelter-in-place procedures and make sure everyone in their facility can complete it in a timely manner." During the UCI, a Logistics Standards and Evaluation Program visit will also be conducted for aircraft and backshop maintenance, aerial port, supply and transportation functions. Leadership from the 305 AMW seem to agree - compliance and a positive attitude are key to having a successful inspection. The UCI is a time for the 305 AMW to showcase its hard work and capabilities. "When dealing with inspectors, having a positive attitude is critical in setting a good tone and impression of your unit," Colonel Bungarden said. "Compliance is the key," said Lt. Col. Ed Wold, 305 AMW IG. "Know your job, your applicable regulatory guidance, be proud of what you do and show it with a positive attitude!" "The upcoming UCI is an excellent opportunity to showcase our commitment to mission excellence," said Col. Balan Ayyar, 305 AMW commander. "I have high expectations about our performance and look forward to our final weeks of preparation."
