How 'green' are you? Published Oct. 5, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Kenesah Ferebee-Byer 305th Medical Group MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- By now, you should be familiar with the term "green." Being green is meant to imply that you make eco-conscious/earth-friendly decisions to lessen your impact on the environment. There are varying degrees of eco-consciousness; however, if everyone chooses to make a few minor changes we can make a big impact. Below is a quick quiz to assess your basic knowledge of recycling and energy/water conservation. If most of your answers are in the "rarely to never" category, you may consider adopting a few changes. You may have already incorporated some green changes into your home, not realizing the same principles can be applied to your work environment. Encourage your fellow Airmen and co-workers to reduce, reuse and recycle to help McGuire Air Force Base lessen its impact on the community and environment. Quiz: Always, sometimes or rarely to never: 1. I recycle plastics, glass, aluminum and newspaper at home. 2. I leave the light on after I've left the room in my house. 3. I use my bicycle or walk, instead of my car. 4. I use compact fluorescent light bulbs at home. 5. I limit my air conditioner use. 6. I use reusable shopping bags for groceries and errands. 7. I purchase organic and eco-friendly products. 8. I leave the water running while I brush my teeth. 9. I use a programmable thermostat at home. 10. I wash less than full loads of laundry.
