The Airman Activities Committee here is currently seeking new members.

The AAC is designed for Airmen, E-1 through E-4, to enhance morale, educate, and foster camaraderie and unity.

"The AAC is for Airmen on base who would like to improve life for themselves and their fellow Airmen," said Airman 1st Class Tamika Edwards, AAC president. "It's for the Airmen who want to give back to the base and community, and for those who want to have fun, go on trips and network with others."

Recently, AAC members got together and held the Airmen Enhancement Seminar, which gave tips to help further their Air Force careers, and held several fundraisers, such as car washes, to help raise money for the group's future activities.

"We have many things planned for the future of the AAC," Airman Edwards' said. "We are planning on starting 'Social Night' at the Airmen's Firehouse for Airmen to come out and network with other Airmen from around the base, and starting in September, we plan on having Wednesday movie nights at the firehouse," she said. "Each week will be a different theme. At first, we'll pick the themes and then have the Airmen vote on what they want to see each week."

Airman Edwards seems to have several ideas in the works for the upcoming months with the AAC and said new ideas are always welcome.

"In October, we are planning to have an Airmen's Ball," Airman Edwards said. "We're also hoping to plan regular trips for the group, like paintball in September and Broadway in December."

Airman Edwards said there are plenty of opportunities within the AAC for to volunteer.
"Ideally, for each trip, it would be great to have a POC for that trip. That way, all of the main coordination could go through one person. Anyone who is interested in being a POC for a trip or who has an idea for a trip can contact any of the AAC leaders."

Airman Edwards said the AAC can be very beneficial to Airmen who join. As the president, she said she has grown a lot since coming into the AAC.

"The AAC can be a great chance to better yourself as a person and as an Airman, a chance to meet more people and give back to your community, all while having fun," she said. "As a member of the AAC, I have grown, become a better-rounded person and learned how to become a leader. I've learned how to better work with my peers, how to deal with different people and personalities, and patience.

"In the AAC, it's about working together and doing great things," Airman Edwards said. We have a great team already, and hopefully, we'll continue to add new members to that."

For more information or to volunteer, contact Airman Edwards at (609) 754-3548, Airman 1st Class Joshua Presley-Lawrence, AAC vice president, Airman 1st Class Christy Barron, AAC secretary, or Airman 1st Class Cherrelle Thomas, treasurer. The group is currently seeking a historian/photographer.
