Rank/Name: Staff Sgt. Melissa Whipple
Age: 27
Hometown (City/State): Elma, Wash.
Family: Father, mother and sister
Duty Title/Unit: 305th Communications Squadron quality assurance evaluator
Time in the Air Force: Nine and one-half years
Time at McGuire: Eight months

What I like most about being stationed at McGuire: There is not much traffic and plenty of parking on base. I recently came from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where traffic and parking on base was a nightmare.

The military member who's influenced my career the most is: My last superintendent. He pulled me from one shop and made me NCO in charge of a new work center. I was scared to death of the responsibility, but his faith in me gave me the confidence I needed to stand up to the challenge.

My proudest military moment is when: I received the notification e-mail saying I was selected for the 2008 Presidential Campaign Communications Support Team.

Five years from now I'll: be a master sergeant and stationed back in USAFE.

Dream job: Something where I make my own hours and don't have to wake up to an alarm clock

My favorite food is: Pepperoni pizza

Favorite movie: Dirty Dancing

Hobbies: Horseback riding, volleyball and reading

Motto: Keep on keepin' on

Supervisor's comments: "Sergeant Whipple, a.k.a. 'The Whip', demonstrates a relentless drive for success," said Master Sgt. James Christ, 305 CS Maintenance Support section chief. "With her recent promotion to technical sergeant, she is a stellar asset to the Air Force and this work center."
