Can Do Crew
The Can Do Crew would like to recognize Senior Airman Mbah Ndumbi, 305th Services Squadron. Airman Ndumbi was deployed at the time of the original presentation February 12. Airman 1st Class Raul Sierra and Airman Ndumbi were instrumental in saving the life of a customer at the McGuire Fitness Center where they work. On Dec. 27, 2006, a customer, CWO (ret.) Ronald Mobley, informed them that a man, Jack Deshields, had passed out in the steam room. Both Airmen went into the steam room and found Mr. Deshields lifeless and unresponsive. Without hesitation, Airman Sierra called 911 while Airman Ndumbi and Mr. Mobley pulled Mr. Deshields out of the steam room. Once they removed him from the hot environment, Airman Ndumbi elevated his feet and cooled him with water and ice until the paramedics arrived 20 minutes later. Mr. Deshields was then transported to the hospital. According to Mr. Mobley, the quick actions of these two staff members saved Mr. Deshield’s life. Their service above and beyond the call of duty ensured the safety of the customer and we are honored to recognize these outstanding members of the “Can Do” wing!
Be aware that the “Can Do Crew” is everywhere, looking for outstanding service. They covertly seek members of Team McGuire who make a difference. Remember, the strongest asset of Team McGuire is its people; you are what makes McGuire a better place to live, work and play!
