McGuire Fit Factor Youth Sports Camps

  • Published
Through innovative programming and the use of active learning practices focusing on obesity prevention, lifelong fitness and skill development, the Youth Sport Camps support the educational and public service mission of the 305th Services Youth Center at McGuire, while promoting the benefits of physical activity and health lifestyles for youth in the community.

The Youth Sport Fit Factor Camps are five days a week and consist of sports activities, leadership, self esteem and teamwork. The 2007 camp season will go from July 2 until August 3. Camps run from 9 a.m. to noon (ages 6 to 9) and 1 to 4 p.m. (ages 10 to 15) Monday through Friday. One-week sessions are offered in field sport, basketball, outdoor adventure and other athletics. In addition, they feature the Fun Learning to Improve Fitness and Eating camp this year, which combines sports and physical activity with healthy lessons and curriculum. This summer, they have also added the Field Sport Sampler Camp, which will allow campers to get a brief taste of several sports in a short time.

All one-week camps are $12 a week for each camper. This will include one t-shirt for the summer. Sign up for all five camps at one time and save $10 (i.e. five camps for $50). All campers will be given a Fit Factor password to use the Air Force Youth Fit Factor Web site. Each camper is to wear athletic shorts, tee shirt, socks and sneakers. Lunch and transportation is not provided by the youth center. It is the parents or guardian's responsibility to make sure their child arrives on time daily and brings a water bottle.
Due to limited space, early registration is recommended to ensure a spot. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
