Tri-service dental team stands up at McGuire Published June 1, 2007 By the 305th Dental Squadron MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE -- The vision of a tri-service dental treatment team is now a reality, well ahead of BRAC-directed changes and joint basing at McGuire AFB. An Army team composed of Lt. Col. (Dr.) James Ross, Sgt. Gynell Garnes and Specialist Eraquio Ramos from Fort Dix began full-time work at the McGuire clinic in January, and a Navy team composed of Cmdr. (Dr.) Rob Raffetto, Petty Officer 3rd Class Calvin Amerson and Margaret Weber from Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Station joined the staff in April. The combined tri-service team provides care in one location for more than 8,000 active-duty Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and Public Health beneficiaries. Lt. Col. Greg Canney, 305th Dental Squadron commander, said he expects firm commitments from the Navy and Army to shift billets permanently from neighboring installations slated to close under BRAC to the new Joint Base beginning January 2008. "This is an exciting time to be planning a true tri-service dental operation and we are proud to be a part of increased interoperability right here at McGuire," said Colonel Canney. "The medical group executive staff is doing an outstanding job of anticipating the requirements of an additional 5,000-6,000 enrolled patients in the next three years -- we will be ready!"
