Base honors Military Spouse Appreciation Day Published May 24, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Tamika Edwards 305th Mission Support Group MCGUIRE AFB, N.J. -- The Club on McGuire AFB hosted a luncheon May 11 in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day. President Ronald Reagan officially proclaimed the day in 1984 as being the first Friday before Mother's Day of every year. "It went well," said Dan McDermick, Business Flight Chief of 305th Services Squadron. "Marketing did a good job of getting the word out." Mr. McDermick ensured that all of the information for the event went out three months prior and to the appropriate individuals. Approximately 100 people were in attendance, including commanders from various squadrons and their wives. The 305th Services Squadron Commander Lt. Col. Roy Mathis was in attendance and honored Connie O'Dell, Human Resource Office for 305th Services Squadron for being a military spouse. On the menu there was baked chicken or fish, roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy and luscious desserts. "The menu turned out nice," said Joanna Mosley, executive assistant to Colonel Mathis. Mrs. Mosley is the wife of Capt. Michael Mosley, 305th Operations Support Squadron KC-10 Formal Training Unit instructor pilot. This day has been honored, celebrated and appreciated by military spouses and their families for years. "It's nice to be acknowledged for the sacrifices that we all have to make," said Mrs. Mosley. "We got good feedback from it," said Mr. McDermick. "We even got a recommendation for single parent's appreciation day."
