McGuire lieutenant wins 'trip of lifetime'

One lucky lieutenant recently won the opportunity of a lifetime: a trip to the Super Bowl provided by Air Force Services Agency sponsors.

First Lt. Lisa Charles, 305th Civil Engineer Squadron section commander, was one of four winners selected to attend the Super Bowl in Miami as part of the Air Force Clubs Football Frenzy 2006 contest.

Lieutenant Charles and her husband, PJ, received round-trip airfare, a rental car, four-night hotel stay, tickets to the Super Bowl (seated 22 rows from the field) and tickets to the "NFL Experience." The perks also included a limousine ride and police escort to the big game.

"I knew it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so it was awesome to be selected as one of the winners," said Lieutenant Charles. "This whole trip far exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be participating in all Football Frenzy contests in the future. I never could have imagined my club membership would have taken me to the Super Bowl."

Air Force club members worldwide and their family members over age 18 were eligible to win one of four trips to a regular season game in Tampa Bay, Fla., four trips to the Super Bowl or eight trips to a Pro Bowl game in Hawaii. The contest ran from September through February, culminating with the Pro Bowl.

Participants filled out an entrance form at the local club and were selected by a drawing.
"The amazing thing was Lieutenant Charles was actually on leave at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, when she won," said Steve Pivin, 305th Services Squadron. "As long as you are a club member, it doesn't matter which club you enter through, you still have a chance to win."

The Football Frenzy program began about 13 years ago. According to Mr. Pivin, the objective of the program is to reward club members, recognize club sponsors, increase club business and build esprit de corps.
