The Parents Of Multiples Support Group, provides members an opportunity to get together and discuss multiple pregnancies, give advice on raising multiples and everything that goes along with having two or more children, is currently seeking members.

Christine Maheux and Amy Thomas, both Team McGuire members, formed the group in June after meeting others with multiples and seeing personally how hard it was to raise one child, let alone multiples.

Mrs. Maheux, a mother of boy/girl twins, said the group gets together about once a month, but because they are still trying to publicize the group, meeting times are flexible.
"Currently, we don't have a meeting time set for next month," Mrs. Maheux said. "We usually call each other about a month ahead of time to schedule a group meeting at the passenger terminal."

Currently, four mothers of multiples are in the group, including Mrs. Maheux, and they discuss everything from different products for multiples to stores with discounts for multiples and feeding on a schedule, Mrs. Maheux said.

Fathers of multiples are also encouraged to attend, as well as the children, Mrs. Maheux said.

The whole family is welcome to come together, she added. "I know I always have my twins there," she said.

The group has many benefits and welcomes new members, including those who are pregnant with multiples.

"It's a great way to let off steam," Mrs. Maheux said. "And, it's great to talk to other parents of multiples who know what you're going through."

"It's a great benefit for those who are pregnant (with multiples) to meet with parents who have multiples and have been down that path," Mrs. Thomas said. "They've been there, can offer advice and help guide soon-to-be parents of multiples."

"The group joke is that we all seem to have friends who have one child, and we're always asking, 'What's so hard about one?'" Mrs. Maheux jokingly said.

"Of course one child is difficult, but multiples are a whole different story," she added.
