JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J.— -- The Kish Airman Leadership School has become the first of its kind to graduate a class containing students from all six of the uniformed military services, during the graduation ceremony of class 21-G, Oct. 21, on Joint Base MDL.
ALS was designed as the first level of Professional Military Education for enlisted Airmen, an entry-level leadership course that is required for the promotion to staff sergeant.
As the only tri-service military installation, the Kish ALS adapted the course to reflect the Joint Base MDL environment. The outcome was lauded by the senior enlisted service member of the United States Armed Forces, during a video message to class 21-G.
“To have a class of this magnitude, with all of the services represented in a joint fashion, creates a breeding ground for excellence,” said Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman (SEAC) of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Ramon Colon-Lopez. “What the Kish Airman Leadership School has done with this class is promoting the way of the future, the way that we are going to fight wars.”
A theme that ran throughout the ceremony was the Kish ALS class 21-G is moving the next generation of the Total Force in the right direction.
“At Kish ALS, we are growing leaders, no matter the service ,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jeremy Hill, Kish ALS commandant. “We are setting the students up for success and we are trying to do it right. I think the key thing is to be authentic and set the example. Because, at the end of the day, these individuals are going to be leading the next generation.”
