The U.S. Marine Corps. Marine Aircraft Group 49 held a Relief and Appointment Retirement ceremony on 17 July, 2022, at Army Support Activity Fort Dix.

U.S. Marine Corps. Sg. Maj. William Singleton relinquished his authority as Sergeant Major of  MAG 49 (Reserve) to U.S. Marine Corps. Sg. Maj. Dorma Fitje, and retired after 27 years of service as a reservist.

“27 years ago if you told me I would be standing here today I wouldn't have believed you,” said Singleton. “I'd like to thank my wife and children for that, you don't make it to this point without that kind of support.”
