JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- U.S. Army Soldiers from various units attended the Holistic Health and Fitness Integrator Course, previously known as the Master Fitness Trainer Course, at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Jan. 8-19. Originally being the Army’s groundbreaking contribution to Soldier readiness and lethality, the course is available to all branches on JB MDL, enabling us as the Premier Joint Warfighting Base.
The H2F-I course fosters a people-first environment, providing a comprehensive method to serve our fellow service members in the five pillars: physical, spiritual, nutritional, mental and sleep. The two-week course also educated members on core lifts and proper form, speed and agility, resistance training, aerobic and anaerobic movements, running technique and periodization training. This allows for a diversified knowledge of fitness to appeal to different workout styles and techniques that may work better for a certain service member regarding their needs or goals. The course aims to educate and influence our members to also take their knowledge back to their various units and provide commanders assets to help prepare their fellow warfighters for numerous operations. The course is available to all branches, enabling our joint force to be fit to fight.
“The demands of war are great and we’re helping our fellow service members increase their mental and physical toughness,” said U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Binkley, H2F-I course instructor. “This course gives them many opportunities to excel, ensuring they are ready to fight alongside their service members when the time comes.”
The two-week course includes classroom time to further educate the service members on the various topics to apply to their everyday lives and share with their units. The final assignment is for each member to create their own fitness program from what they have learned during the H2F-I course. The goal is for the members to utilize the program within their unit, bettering not only themselves, but the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Guardians and Coastguardsmen alongside them.
“The H2F-I course has the potential to make you unstoppable,” said U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Evan Usner, H2F-I course instructor. “Physically robust, mentally sharp and spiritually resilient is what we all have the ability to become.”
As the warfighting domain evolves, we must provide our warfighters with endless opportunities to remain ready to fight. The H2F-I course postures JB MDL'S joint force to forge an ever-ready resiliency and stay equipped to fight the enemy.
