The Navy Exchange, located on the Lakehurst side of the joint base here, celebrated their grand reopening after completing extensive renovations - the first since it opened in 1979.

The Exchange now has new flooring, ceilings, walls, doors, aisles and more. With the new renovations, NEXCOM is also able to add improvements to patron's shopping experience.

Grace Runner, branch manager, hopes the service members that shop there, the majority of whom are Sailors, are impressed and happy with the new store.

"Other than the wow factor, we have a new uniform shop now, it's easier to find the merchandise, in the store itself we've added a few departments, including more food."

The renovations, which cost NEXCOM approximately $1 million, started in August of 2014 and were completed recently, said Runner.

"There's so much rich history and so much quality of life that this exchange helps us build on the base," said Col. James Hodges, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst commander. "With this renovation, and the ability to have more things on the shelves and to stock them for the good of not just the Sailors but all service members across the joint base."

The Navy Exchange is now open to the joint base community.

"We've re-opened the store, added some new merchandise and brought us up to the 21st century," said Runner.
