The U.S. Army officially launches the Operational Camouflage Pattern Army Combat Uniform July 1, 2015, to replace the current Universal Camouflage Pattern ACU.

Transitioning from the current UCP to the OCP is planned to occur over several years.

The Military Clothing Sales here is scheduled for a September through October delivery time frame.

OCP insignias and commercial accessories will be available at www.shopmyexchange.com by July 1, 2015.

The anticipated wear-out date for the current UCP is Sept. 30, 2018, with an anticipated mandatory possession date of Oct. 1, 2018.

Soldiers are authorized to wear the Operation Enduring Freedom camouflage pattern flame resistant army combat uniform in lieu of the OCP. Both uniforms are offered in two versions, unisex and female sizes.

Soldiers are authorized to wear desert sand boots, t-shirts, and rigger belts with the OCP and OEF-CP. If a Soldier wishes to wear a desert tan t-shirt, the Soldier must also wear a desert tan rigger belt and desert tan boots. No mixing of color is authorized.

The black micro fleece cap is an authorized cold weather headgear for the OCP and OEF-CP, the foliage green micro-fleece cap will not be authorized.

The new OCP ACU features several improvements requested by Soldiers. These improvements include:
· Mandarin collar. Removed hook and loop closure, mandarin collar flap extension and replaced them with a fold down collar design.
· Upper sleeve pocket. Now has side zipper closure versus the top open hook and loop closure; increase pocket length by one inch.
· Sleeve pen pockets. Reduced from three channels to two.
· Elbow and knee patches. Removed hook and loop from elbow and knee patches; retained double fabric reinforcement.
· Trouser waistband. Removed drawstring.
· Cargo pocket. Removed cord and cord barrel lock.
· Lower leg pocket. Changed closure from hook and loop to one button closure.

The OCP remains Permethrin (insect repellant) treated.  Availability of non-Permethrin treated OCPs is yet to be determined. Soldiers requesting non-treated OCPs will be directed to wear non-treated UCPs until more information is available on ordering procedures.

Soldiers will not be authorized to exchange UCP components for OCP components on the Department of the Army Form 3078 unless approved by the Clothing Service Office.
